About Me
As a senior in high school, I faced significant challenges, including a low GPA and financial instability, as I relied on the support of my community for basic necessities like meals. Raised in a single-parent household, with my mother lacking a college degree, the prospect of attending college seemed like an unattainable dream. However, fueled by determination and resilience, I embarked on a journey to defy the odds.
Now, as a senior graduating from the esteemed School of Nursing, I stand as a testament to perseverance and dedication. Despite the initial doubts, I have not only gained acceptance into college but excelled in my academic pursuits. Throughout my collegiate journey, I have actively engaged in various extracurricular activities and leadership roles that have shaped my character and fueled my passion for making a difference.
On campus, I hold the esteemed position of Vice President in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., where I contribute to fostering a supportive and empowering community. Additionally, I serve as a mentor in the Student Nurses' Association, guiding and supporting fellow students in their academic, professional, and social endeavors. My commitment to community engagement extends beyond social organizations as I also fulfill the role of Treasurer in the Men's Initiative in Nursing, advocating for diversity and inclusivity within the field.
Moreover, I take pride in my role as the Outreach Coordinator of the Ebony Impact Gospel Choir, where I use music as a medium to inspire and uplift others. My involvement in the ODU Honors College reflects my academic excellence, having earned the distinction of making the Dean's List six times and graduating with cum laude honors.
Driven by a deep-seated belief in the power of service and community, I aspire to leave a lasting impact both on and off campus. Through my love for community involvement and service, I strive to demonstrate that nothing is impossible with determination and perseverance. After graduation, I plan to start as an Intensive Care Registered Nurse at a hospital in Newport News, Va following the passing of my NCLEX examination. As I prepare to embark on the next chapter of my journey, I am committed to continuing to make a positive difference in the lives of those around me, embodying the spirit of resilience and empowerment.
